Law and order situation has improved in Karachi: PM
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Rangers Headquarters here on Friday and headed a meeting regarding law and order situation in the city.
Governor Sindh‚ Chief Minister Sindh Federal Interior Minister, Rangers and and other law enforcement authorities also attended the meeting.
The PM was briefed by the Rangers authorities on law and order situation in Karachi.
Nawaz Sharif lauded efficiency of the law enforcement agencies. He said that law and order situation in the city has improved after effective action by the law enforcement agencies.
The PM directed to continue targeted operation till complete restoration of peace in the city.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited quake-hit Awaran district of Balochistan.
On the occasion, he made an appeal to estranged Baloch members to enter into the national mainstream and become part of the nation building process.
The PM announced compensation of five hundred thousand rupees for the heirs of those died in the disaster and one hundred and fifty thousand rupees for the injured.
He said the government has not accepted any foreign assistance for the relief and rehabilitation of quake affected areas whereas federal and provincial governments will collectively provide funds for the whole purpose.
Nawaz Sharif assured that reconstruction activities in the quake affected areas of Balochistan would be carried out on fast track basis.
He said the quake affected district of Awaran will be transformed into a model district and developed on the pattern of Islamabad and Karachi.
Announcing several new initiatives for Awaran district‚ he said that solar energy will be introduced in the district to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the people. Similarly supply of gas will be ensured to the area.
