The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) flight operations director Datuk Yahaya Abdul Rahman said it was still premature to determine the cause of the crash, which reportedly occurred in bad weather, Bernama reported.

“We need to look into all mechanical and electronic aspects of the aircraft before anything can be said,” he was quoted as saying during a visit to the crash site today.

 

He also rubbished rumours that the aircraft had crashed into high voltage electrical posts as it was flying at 457m.Yahaya said the cause of the helicopter crash could only be determined once all technical aspects of the aircraft were examined.

He said DCA’s investigations division had sent in three investigators while the Transport Ministry had sent two from its air investigations bureau to probe into the crash.

They would be joined by an expert from France Airbus Helicopters.

“Our main objective is to determine the cause of the crash and to avoid it from happening again,” he said.

Yahaya also said once investigations at the scene were completed, the wreckage would be moved to another location for a detailed investigation into its technical aspects.

At the moment, he said police were still securing the crash site.

He also said DCA was making air patrols of the area to get a bird’s eye view of the crash site.

“We are trying to find other pieces that might have fallen further from the primary crash site. We are also investigating the route the ill-fated aircraft had taken,” he reportedly said.

The AS365N2 Dauphin helicopter was en route from Pekan, Pahang, where the wedding reception of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s daughter was held, with six people on board yesterday when it exploded in mid-air and crashed into a rubber smallholding on Jalan Sungai Lalang, Kampung Pasir Baru, Semenyih. – April 5, 2015.
