NEW DELHI: Bhutto family scion Bilawal Bhutto said yesterday that he’s “received many marriage proposals but I have rejected all of them,” because he will only marry someone his sisters choose for him, The Express Tribune reported.

“And the girl who my sisters choose will be lucky,” added the modest 28-year-old head of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), answering journalists’ questions yesterday.

Bilawal reportedly added that whoever wants to marry him, “she must convince my sisters first which is very difficult task.” He then added that “Fate will get us hitched if any woman succeeds in this task,” The Nation reported the opposition leader as saying.

Like anywhere else on the subcontinent, Bilawal’s comments about marriage led to unsolicited advice from many.

Stating that a woman is behind every successful man, Abid Sher Ali, a minister in the Nawaz Sharif government, advised Bilawal to marry before embarking on a full-time political career, The News International reported. He said Bilawal could avoid several political scandals by marrying before entering the political arena.

Ali also advised him not follow the path of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan “who is ready to get divorce for the third and fourth time also,” the newspaper quoted Ali as saying. Imran has been married and divorced just twice.

Ali’s colleague Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said it was good Bilawal had decided to marry. He also commiserated with the young man saying that “a decision in this regard must be difficult to make as there are a lot of choices”, the Tribune reported.

And yet another party’s leader insisted that Bilawal marry for love.

“Bilawal should marry the one he loves or the one he likes, or else he is destined to face a lot of issues in life,” was the sage advice offered by Rauf Siddiqui, a Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader.

Adding to this circus, an astrologer told Geo News Bilawal should wait until 2019 to get married as “his stars were not aligned.

“The stars for Bilawal are very similar to Imran Khan when it comes to marriage,” Samia Khan, the astrologer, said.

She also predicted Bilawal would get married more than once. “It will not be difficult for Bilawal to get married, rather making the marriage last will be the true test.”

Bhutto family scion Bilawal Bhutto of Pakistan is someone like Gandhi family scion in India; possess no other qualification than accidental birth in the family.Pradeep Baliga

Lots here then for the 28-year-old to think about.
