During the meeting, professional matters relating to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were discussed.

The premier said that the government will continue to provide funds for increasing the air force’s capacity for ensuring security of the air frontier so that it can effectively meet future challenges.

Butt also apprised the premier on various upgradation programs of the air force which will enable them to meet security challenges in the future more effectively.

PM Nawaz appreciated the PAF’s role in Operation Zarb-i-Azb and implementation of National Action Plan — which was drafted in the wake of the Peshawar school attack to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and extremism.

The Pakistan Army launched a comprehensive operation titled Zarb-i-Azb last year against foreign and local terrorists who were hiding in sanctuaries in North Waziristan tribal region, a week after the brazen insurgent attack on the country’s busiest airport in Karachi.
